Sonder Black i27 are our carbon performance XC Trail wheelset. Designed to maximise speed over rough terrain and improve climbing efficiency, ultimately moving you faster for longer.
They’re built to race; eating up the terrain, XC races, local off-road and post-work blasts. Designed, laced and precision-built in the UK.
- Unidirectional carbon 25mm asymmetric low-profile rims with Sapim spokes
- Disc brake specific and tubeless-ready design for 2.2-2.5 tyres
- 120-point engagement for quick acceleration and pedalling efficiency
- Super lightweight at 1600g a set
We’ve used a super light rear hub with a ratchet drive mechanism that has a 36-point engagement, so the freehub is ready to drive forward with every 10° of rotation. That means there’s no lag between you pressing on the pedals and getting drive to the rear wheel. And the more you push the more engaged the drive is and its not affected by any flex in the hub – this is especially important on steeper climbs and when the going gets rough!
Our unidirectional carbon rims tied with Sapim spokes make for super strong wheels at just 1600g a set. Make the most of the weight savings with confidence they’ll be able to handle the rocks and roots when the trail drops away into singletrack.
The i27 Black’s natural habitat is to race fast over rough ground, roots and rocks, but they’re also an ideal upgrade to your setup if you just want a speed boost on weekend off road rides.
A lightweight wheel is a game changer when it comes to acceleration, the lower distribution of weight at the rim equals a lower moment of inertia and less effort required to spin the wheels up to speed.
MADE IN BRITAIN
We lace, build and finish all our wheels in our Nottingham factory, with each one getting a full quality control inspection. We’ve brought the build process in house from overseas to enable us to produce something truly special. We can oversee the whole construction of our wheels and keep quality consistent, production efficient and reduce the impact on the planet by not shipping boxes of wheels around the world.
